Children’s Burns Trust

FI-UK are proud to be official supporters of the Children’s Burns Trust which is dedicated to providing rehabilitation support for burned and scald injured children and their families as well as prevention and awareness campaigns for which there is little or no national funding.

They have been working in the UK for over 20 years, and make a positive difference in three ways:

  1. Working with others to raise the awareness of burns and scalds including PREVENTION campaigns such as Nation Burn Awareness Day & Child Safety Week
  2. Working with professionals to provide direct help and funding for REHABILITATION
  3. Giving direct financial SUPPORT to families and hospitals and providing advice on how to access burn related information.

A burn injury is for life. The scars are physical as well as psychological and can present life-long challenges. It is our aim to make those challenges easier to bear and to help children and young people to grow up and lead as happy and healthy a life as possible.

Please donate something, no matter how small today. Thank you!

John Galvin Steps down as Partner but stays with the team

Today, 1 April 2019, John Galvin has decided to step down as a Partner of FI-UK but will remain part of our long established team as our Director of Training. John has not only spent the last 7 1/2 years helping manage FI-UK but was instrumental in setting up the company prior to that.

Myself, Chris Clarke and the team thank John for all he has done and are very pleased that he will remain with FI-UK. We hope he enjoys the extra personal time this will give him.

FI-UK New Head Office and laboratories were officially opened on 26 September 2018!

All of the FI-UK Team were at our new facilities on the BRE Global campus to host clients, new and old to not only marvel at our new Head Office, but to see our capabilities and services using new state of the art technology and project management platforms. We delivered 3 hours certificated CPD training to the attendees, with a buffet lunch in between, followed by a drinks reception at the end of the afternoon.

Our thanks go to all of our existing clients that have supported us through our first seven years and to our new and potential clients for taking the time out of their busy days to support our event.

We are looking forward to the next seven years!

ISO9001:2015 In our 7th year and it just gets better!

The executive summary of the very successful inspection was……..

The organisation has broken the traditional barrier to entry in its arena of operation by being; Innovative Responsive to clients’ needs ‘Focused’ on a service promise which is better than normal expectation of the industry – with utmost integrity
The strengths of the management system is that it has been well thought through and is used to the benefit of the organisation and its clients.
Weakness? If anything, there is potential for duplication – particularly in the area of risk management.
The organisation is seeking steady robust growth with a satisfied client base and all of the measures support this aim.

Well done FI-UK!

FI-UK Move into new offices and laboratories – July 2017!

The FI-UK Team combined the relocation into their new offices and laboratories and their annual summer team meeting with a well deserved bar-b-que and adult beverages in London this summer. Everyone worked hard to move our storage, tools and equipment to the larger facility in Building 26 on the BRE Global site in Garston, Hertfordshire. Works are nearly completed to the two new laboratories, Board room, open plan office/training suite, reception area and secure storage facility. Just as we are about to celebrate the completion of our 6th birthday. Onwards and upwards!!

Kitchen Hygiene Standards: TR19

Nearly all of our team are now trained to the following Kitchen Hygiene Standards: TR19, CITB 14208 (BESA Affiliate Ref No: 1893). We have completed the Domestic Appliance Familiarisation and Fault Analysis Course (18 hrs) at The Training Academy (UKPRN:10046250) and can confidently examine fire damaged commercial kitchen extraction systems!

A Successful 2017 Advanced Principles of Fire Dynamics with Dr James Quintiere! 2018 bookings being taken now!!

With 16 delegates fully engaging with the theory and practical lessons delivered by Dr Quintiere and Mr Bob Schaal during their three day course last week, bookings are now being taken for the 2018 offering. Feedback from the delegates was extremely positive and each candidate successfully passed the course and was awarded 22.5 hours CPD with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).

Although the delegates were a mixture of forensic fire investigators and fire engineers, all were from the private sector. This course is also extremely beneficial for operational firefighters and fire officers as understanding fire science and fire dynamics enables a safer operational fire scene with the application of correct fire fighting tactics.

Please email admin@fireinvestigationsuk.com if you wish to know further details for the 2018 course which will be held at the BRE Academy on 12, 13 and 14 June 2018.
