Andre De Beer is the owner of Hexagon Fire Investigation cc, a privately-owned fire investigation company that is based in South Africa. The company specialises in structure fire investigations. Andre is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company and presents training occasionally. His focus is to conduct fire investigations and to present expert testimony when required. Andre was attached to the Forensic Science Laboratory of the South African Police Service for 11 years before accepting a fire investigator position at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) within the Fire Engineering Sciences Group. He was appointed as manager of the fire investigation business unit during his 8 year attachment with the CSIR. In 2006 he established Hexagon Fire Investigation with Mr Kim Yates. Andre serves a broad client base that consists of insurance companies, government agencies, the legal fraternity, and other private individuals as and when requested. He has investigated many large loss fires in South Africa and in other Sub-Saharan countries. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pretoria (Chemistry and Biochemistry majors) and is a certified fire investigator with the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI). He is a founder member and past president of the South African Chapter of the IAAI. Andre holds the Forensic Science Society Diploma in fire investigation, is a Professional Member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences (CSFS) in the UK and is recognised as an Accredited Forensic Practitioner specialising in fire investigation by the CSFS.
