A Certified Fire Investigator with the International Association of Arson Investigators, Member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers. Peter has attended and passed a Cause and Origin and Courtroom Techniques Course at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre, Glenco, Georgia, USA and a CFI re-certification course with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Washington, USA. Peter has developed a unique comprehensive fire investigation methodology, having designed a series of 23 Fire Investigation Road Maps (FIRMs) and associated guidance to enable the investigator to identify and analyse all available data relating to an incident without bias, as part of his PhD thesis based on the study of fire investigation methodologies. This allows a thorough, rigorous and systematic approach to fire investigations ensuring all available data is collected. As London Fire Brigade’s Borough Commander of the City of London and Group Manager for the Fire Investigation Team, Peter has been involved, either directly or indirectly, with many of the most high profile fire investigations within the UK and Ireland for over more than a decade; Bethnal Green Road Fire Fighter fatalities; Stevenage Fire Fighter fatalities; Iron Mountain data storage warehouse fire; the Cutty Sark fire; ‘Operation Refit’ murder investigation (Hertfordshire); Bray, Co Wicklow (Ireland) Fire Fighter fatalities; Warwickshire Fire Fighter fatalities; the Royal Marsden Hospital; the Lakanal high rise multi-fatal fire and the Southampton (Hampshire) double fire fighter fatalities. Since moving into the private sector in 2012, he has carried out fire investigations around the UK, the Middle East and Europe. Peter was President of the IAAI between 2014-2015 and still remains involved with on their Board.
