John has experience in the fire safety field extending back some 30yrs, working as an appointed fire safety inspector for a large metropolitan fire authority for 15years and has carried out inspection and enforcement of fire safety legislation in all sectors within the fire safety environment.
Whilst employed by the fire service John carried out a 3 year secondment for the Home Office working as an Instructor teaching Fire Engineering at the Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh. He has used his extensive scientific background as a stepping-stone to study for an Engineering degree, specialising in Fire Engineering; he is a Graduate of the Institution of Fire Engineers. John has carried out consultancy work on behalf of the fire service college both in the UK and abroad.
On leaving the fire service John entered the commercial world as a consultant Fire Engineer. He has worked on many projects and prestigious buildings throughout the UK. His knowledge and teaching style are in great demand, and he trains fire services and building control bodies throughout the country. In his specialist field of residential and domestic sprinklers, John trains and advises industry and private enterprises. John`s specialties include sprinkler and smoke control design, as well as fire safety strategies and complex fire safety risk assessment. John’s track record in providing cost effective solutions to fire engineering problems make him a nationally recognised figure.
