Simon worked in law enforcement for 19 years, 11 involving marine crime, before starting a full time career in the private sector in 2016 as Director of Seaxe Consultants. Prior to becoming a police officer, he worked as a marine engineer for 7 years and 3 years as a vehicle mechanics. As a qualified Field Intelligence Officer, Simon was the only investigator on the joint Essex & Kent Police Marine Unit. Simon Regularly assisted other police forces UK & worldwide with Marine crime issues and intelligence.
He holds Yacht master Coastal Skipper license with the Royal Yachting Association, RYA Day Skipper certificates, as well as Level 2 advanced and safety boat, powerboat & MCA qualifications of competence. Simon is a Powerboat & PWC instructor and an authorised IAMI Instructor. He has also been a Certified Marine Investigator since 2006 and qualified as an AET trainer/teacher with City & Guilds.
Having served as a commercial police diver, he held Health & Safety Executive police diver qualifications. In relation to medical training, he holds Immediate Trauma Life certificates and MCA proficiency in medical care & first aid on board ship, HSE offshore first aid and HSE at work qualifications. Simon specialises in vessel and engine identification and his evidence is accepted as Expert witness due to his Maritime background and experience in the field.
